Volleyball Recap: Wiley Panthers vs. Springfield Longhorns
Wiley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They came up short against the Springfield Longhorns, falling 3-0. If the Panthers were looking for revenge after losing 3-1 to the Longhorns when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Wiley was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the third set very close. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-16, 25-22.
Lylah Reinhardt paced Wiley's offense, picking up nine kills. Reinhardt also shared the team's lead in assists with Jacee Kravig: they picked up five each. Anistin Gonzales controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Springfield to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tyler Mackey, who had seven digs and three aces. That's the most digs Mackey has posted over her last six matchups. The team also got some help courtesy of Tylynn Rosengrants, who had ten digs.
Wiley's loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Springfield, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-5 record this season.
Wiley is taking a road trip to take on Walsh at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Springfield, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Granada on the 2nd.
