Basketball Game Preview: Gateway Christian vs. Hampton Christian Academy Warriors

Gateway Christian hasn't had much luck against Hampton Christian Academy recently, but that could start to change on Monday. Gateway Christian will square off against the Hampton Christian Academy Warriors at 5:30 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with 18 losses in a row dating back to last season, Gateway Christian turned things around against Broadwater Academy on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Vikings 49-46.

Meanwhile, Hampton Christian Academy got the win against Denbigh Baptist Christian on Friday by a conclusive 61-39. The Warriors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 20 points or more this season.

The victory got Hampton Christian Academy back to even at 9-9. As for Gateway Christian, their win ended a nine-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-12.

Gateway Christian took a serious blow against Hampton Christian Academy when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 61-32. Thankfully for Gateway Christian, Sean O'Connor (who posted 23 points in addition to five boards and three steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
