Basketball Recap: Central Comes Up Short in High-Profile Contest with La Salle Academy

On Tuesday, Central faced La Salle Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Central Knights took an 85-78 hit to the loss column at the hands of the La Salle Academy Rams. The Knights' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Several Knights players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was John Ramos, who posted 22 points. The game was Ramos' fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lester Rodriguez, who scored 19 points.

Central's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-5. As for La Salle Academy, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 17-2.

Central will challenge Classical at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Central knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 16 matchups -- so hopefully Classical likes a good challenge. As for La Salle Academy, they will face off against Lincoln at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. La Salle Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
