Soccer Game Preview: Atascadero vs. Chaminade

The Atascadero Greyhounds and the Chaminade Eagles will round out the year against one another at at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. Atascadero is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 2.6 goals per game this season.

Atascadero's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They put the hurt on Cabrillo with a sharp 4-0 victory. The high-scoring effort was just what the Greyhounds needed considering they were shutout in their previous contest.

They hit Cabrillo with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Dean Bryson, Colton Russell, Oscar Martinez, and Zach Benedix.

Meanwhile, Chaminade was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against Westlake, falling 3-0. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 844th, while the Warriors are ranked 72nd).

Atascadero pushed their record up to 8-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored eight goals over those three games. As for Chaminade, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.
