Basketball Game Preview: Bay City Blackcats vs. La Marque Cougars

Bay City is 1-9 against La Marque since January of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Bay City Blackcats will head out to square off against the La Marque Cougars at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Bay City took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They secured a 55-49 W over El Campo.

Meanwhile, La Marque entered their tilt with Needville on Friday with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. They blew past the Bluejays 60-40. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 154th, while the Bluejays are ranked 851st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

La Marque pushed their record up to 30-2 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Bay City, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-7.

Bay City suffered a grim 60-38 defeat to La Marque in their previous matchup on January 3rd. Can Bay City avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
