Softball Recap: Whitney Wildcats vs. Granite Bay Grizzlies
It's playoff time, and Whitney had no trouble coming through when it counted. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Granite Bay Grizzlies an 11-0 shutout on Friday. The Wildcats have beaten the Grizzlies the last six times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Grizzlies has come to flipping the script.
Taylor Cordell tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Whitney got a massive performance out of Emma Rabe, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Steele, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one run.
Whitney was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Granite Bay only posted a batting average of .167.
