With a playoff win on the line, Southern rose to the challenge on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Smithsburg Leopards as they made off with a 60-37 win. The Rams have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 contests by 22 points or more this season.

Southern's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Abigail Teets, who shot 75% from the field to rack up 16 points and eight boards. Those 16 points gave Teets a new career-high. Jayden Weaver was another key player, going 5-for-10 en route to 13 points and four steals.

Southern was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They racked up six more assists than Smithsburg's also-impressive total of ten.

When it comes to explaining why Smithsburg lost, don't look at Skyla Mastronardi. Despite the final result, she shot 43% from the field on her way to 14 points. Mastronardi is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Molly Weaver, who posted four points and six rebounds.

Southern has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 18 of their last 19 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.9 points over those games. The defeat snapped Smithsburg's winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 20-5 record.

Coming up, Southern will challenge Pikesville at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Pikesville comes in on four and Southern on nine. Smithsburg does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
