Baseball Recap: Archbishop Spalding Comes Up Short

Iona Prep hit Archbishop Spalding with a six-run second inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Cavaliers fell just short of the Gaels by a score of 9-8. That's two games in a row now that the Cavaliers have lost by just one run.

This is the second loss in a row for Archbishop Spalding and nudges their season record down to 21-10. Even worse, they were so close both times: the defeats came by an average of only one runs. As for Iona Prep, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-3-1 record this season.

Archbishop Spalding will square off against Hun at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Iona Prep, they will challenge St. Raymond Boys at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
