Softball Game Preview: Bedford Bisons vs. Juniata Valley Hornets

The Bedford Bisons are taking a road trip to square off against the Juniata Valley Hornets at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Bedford will bounce into Thursday's match after beating Penn Cambria, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Bisons' pitcher stepped up to hand the Panthers a 10-0 shutout on Wednesday. The Bisons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by six runs or more this season.

Rebekah Costal was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Leah Nee was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Bedford was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .458. They are 5-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, Juniata Valley made easy work of Williamsburg on Monday and carried off a 10-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Hornets in their matchups with the Blue Pirates: they've now won eight in a row.

Braelyn Hall made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over 4.1 innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Kassidy Watson was incredible, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Kelsey Ersek, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.

Juniata Valley's record now sits at 5-1-1. As for Bedford, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-6.
