Baseball Recap: Antioch Christian Academy Takes a Loss

Antioch Christian Academy lost against Christ the Cornerstone Academy last Monday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Gators fell just short of the Defenders by a score of 4-2. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Gators couldn't push the score so high this time.

Carson Phillips put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that he hit this season.

Phillips wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Landon Bruce, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. That run was Bruce's first of the season.

Antioch Christian Academy now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Christ the Cornerstone Academy, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-1.

Coming up, Antioch Christian Academy will challenge Sandhills Classical Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Christ the Cornerstone Academy, they will face off against Liberty Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Defenders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season.
