Softball Recap: Peninsula Takes a Loss

Peninsula extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping their season record down to 7-14 in the process. They lost 9-0 to the Palos Verdes Sea Kings. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Panthers of the 13-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

As for Palos Verdes, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.2 runs over those games.

For Palos Verdes' part, Adela Randazzo and Maddie Gregory did most of the damage at the plate: Randazzo went 1-for-2 with one home run, while Gregory got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Maven Ding, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Peninsula will take on Mira Costa at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Palos Verdes, they will challenge Banning at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. The Sea Kings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pilots have averaged an impressive 8.5 runs per game this season.
