Basketball Game Preview: Dunkirk Marauders vs. Chautauqua Lake Eagles

The Dunkirk Marauders will head out on the road to challenge the Chautauqua Lake Eagles at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Dunkirk's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six contests.

If Dunkirk beats Chautauqua Lake with 59 points on Saturday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. Dunkirk enjoyed a cozy 59-45 victory over Frewsburg on Thursday. The Marauders haven't had any issues with the Bears recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, Chautauqua Lake didn't have quite enough to beat Southwestern on Tuesday and fell 52-50. The defeat continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now lost three in a row.

Dunkirk pushed their record up to 8-12 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.0 points over those games. As for Chautauqua Lake, their loss dropped their record down to 9-9.

Dunkirk was able to grind out a solid win over Chautauqua Lake in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, winning 59-52. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Chautauqua Lake's Lawson Ormsby, who dropped a double-double with 26 points and ten boards.
