Softball Recap: Springbrook Takes a Loss

Springbrook extended their losing streak to seven on Saturday, dropping them down to 1-8. They lost 14-0 to the Sherwood Warriors. If the Blue Devils were looking for revenge after losing 17-0 to the Warriors when the teams met back in April of 2019, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Sherwood, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 9-0. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by seven runs or more this season.

For Sherwood's part, Reagan Corb was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. Those 13 strikeouts gave Corb a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. She also put up a triple, which was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Kylie Valois was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Callie Kent was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, one triple, and two RBI.

Coming up, Springbrook will take on Paint Branch on Tuesday. As for Sherwood, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Gaithersburg at 3:45 p.m. The Trojans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.67 runs per game on average), something the Warriors will no doubt try to take advantage of.
