Basketball Game Preview: Phillips Loggers vs. Chequamegon Screaming Eagles

Phillips has gone a perfect 10-0 against Chequamegon recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Phillips Loggers will look to defend their home court against the Chequamegon Screaming Eagles at 7:15 p.m. The timing is sure in Phillips' favor as the squad sits on five straight wins at home while Chequamegon has been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road.

Last Friday, Phillips was able to grind out a solid win over Edgar, taking the game 64-52.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 65-21, which was the final score in Chequamegon's tilt against Stratford on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Screaming Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 453rd, while the Tigers are ranked 72nd).

Phillips is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.8 points over those games. As for Chequamegon, their loss dropped their record down to 2-16.

Everything came up roses for Phillips against Chequamegon in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 77-32 victory. Will Phillips repeat their success, or does Chequamegon have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
