Softball Game Preview: El Camino Colts vs. South San Francisco Warriors

El Camino hasn't had much luck against South San Francisco recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Colts will square off against the Warriors at 4:30 p.m. El Camino has given up an average of 12.2 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

El Camino came up short against Notre Dame on Wednesday, falling 13-3.

Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but South San Francisco ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Mercy, sneaking past 11-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Warriors have posted since April 9th.

Sydney Semans made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. Semans was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 2-for-5. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Madyson Jade Quintanilla was incredible, getting on base in four of her six plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Keira Crutchfield was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs.

The win made it two in a row for South San Francisco and bumps their season record up to 13-8. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games. As for El Camino, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-13.

El Camino suffered a grim 18-2 defeat to South San Francisco in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Colts avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
