Denver South hadn't done well against Denver East recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Denver South Ravens skirted past the Denver East Angels 67-64. The victory continues a trend for the Ravens in their matchups with the Angels: they've now won three in a row.

Denver South's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brody Shepherd, who went 6 of 8 on his way to 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Dominic Rhoades-Martinez, who went 6 for 13 to rack up 15 points and five assists.

Denver East lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being NIJIER ALEXANDER, who went 7 of 10 en route to 16 points and three steals. The dominant performance also gave ALEXANDER a new career-high in shooting accuracy (70%). Another player making a difference was JAMES MURRAY, who went 5 for 9 on his way to 16 points in addition to six boards and four blocks.

Denver South's victory bumped their record up to 11-7. As for Denver East, they dropped their record down to 6-12 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Coming up, Denver South and Northfield will meet in a classic North v. South matchup at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Northfield is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 67.8 points per game this season. As for Denver East, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Rangeview at 7:30 p.m. Denver East knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine contests -- so hopefully Rangeview likes a good challenge.
