Basketball Game Preview: Rockwood Tigers vs. Unaka Rangers

The Rockwood Tigers and the Unaka Rangers will round out the year against one another at at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Friday, Rockwood came up short against Harriman and fell 54-46. The Tigers haven't had much luck with the Blue Devils recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jayden Davidson, who went 7 of 14 en route to 18 points. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Michael Gibson, who posted seven points and eight rebounds.

Meanwhile, Unaka unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of Twin Springs by a score of 47-44. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Rangers have suffered since January 30th.

Unaka's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-2. As for Rockwood, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.

Rockwood strolled past Unaka in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 by a score of 53-36. Will Rockwood repeat their success, or does Unaka have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
