Softball Recap: Troup Triumphs

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Troup ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Tatum Eagles 2-1. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Taylor Gillispie spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kiyah Arterberry, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Troup pushed their record up to 19-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Tatum, their loss dropped their record down to 7-10.

Troup will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Eagles: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
