Softball Recap: Lane Tech Has No Trouble Against Depaul College Prep

While Lane Tech put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for DePaul College Prep. The Champions were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over the Rams. Considering the Champions have won five matches by more than ten runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Grace Brobson, who scored four runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Amya Cordero also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Lane Tech was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .379 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Lane Tech is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for DePaul College Prep, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lane Tech will challenge Niles West at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. As for DePaul College Prep, they will square off against Trinity at 4:45 p.m. on Saturday. The Blazers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.83 runs per game on average), something the Rams will no doubt try to take advantage of.
