Softball Recap: Anthem Prep Comes Up Short

Anthem Prep was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against the Mingus Marauders, falling 11-3. If the Eagles were looking for revenge after losing 9-8 to the Marauders when the teams met back in March of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Anthem Prep saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bailey McCabe, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Anthem Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Mingus, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Anthem Prep will head out to face off against North Valley Christian Academy at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. The Lions have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 17.43 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Mingus, they will challenge Prescott at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Marauders are facing the Badgers at the right time seeing as the Badgers are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
