Softball Recap: Tippecanoe Valley Comes Up Short

If Tippecanoe Valley was feeling good fresh off their 17-1 takedown of LaVille on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Vikings fell just short of the Fairfield Falcons by a score of 3-2 on Saturday. The defeat continues a trend for the Vikings in their meetings with the Falcons: they've now lost four in a row.

Dalynne Bussard put in work no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Bussard wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kahlyn Manns, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Tippecanoe Valley's loss dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Fairfield, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tippecanoe Valley will host Jimtown at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Fairfield, they will be playing at home against Westview at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
