Basketball Recap: North Central Falls Short of Lawrence Central in the Playoffs

North Central and Lawrence Central squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but North Central had to settle for second. They lost 53-32 to the Lawrence Central Bears. The Panthers have struggled against the Bears recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Lawrence Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Laila Abdurraqib led the charge by going 6-for-14 to rack up 14 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Aniyah Mckenzie, who posted six points along with ten boards and four steals.

North Central's defeat dropped their record down to 6-17. As for Lawrence Central, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 22-1.

North Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lawrence Central, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 47-42 loss against Lawrence North on the 8th.
