Baseball Recap: Tates Creek Makes It Four in a Row at Home

Tates Creek took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Lexington Catholic, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Commodores narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Knights 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Commodores have posted against the Knights since May 2, 2023.

Ethan Ratley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Tates Creek is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 5-10 otherwise.

At the plate, DJ Carter was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Tates Creek's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-11. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Lexington Catholic, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 10-6-1.

Coincidentally, Tates Creek and Lexington Catholic will both be playing Henry Clay the next time they take the field. The Commodores will head out to face the Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Knights will head out to face them on Saturday.
