Baseball Recap: Bethel Victorious

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Bethel ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Phoebus Phantoms 4-3. The win continues a trend for the Bruins in their matchups with the Phantoms: they've now won nine in a row.

Josh Flicek spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Bethel is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 2-3 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Conner Lamb, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Bethel's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 2-3 when he doesn't). Ryder Zeman also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

The victory got Bethel back to even at 4-4. As for Phoebus, their defeat was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-6.

Bethel will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Phantoms: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
