Baseball Recap: Tuesday's Victory Is Red Bluff's Fifth in Last Six Outings

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Central, Red Bluff was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Liberty Hawks by a score of 7-2.

Ever Ovalle spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Red Bluff is 4-2 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 6-7 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Red Bluff let Lucas Owens and Ryan Ross run wild. Owens went a perfect 4-for-4 with two triples, one stolen base, and one run, while Ross went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those four hits gave Owens a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mason Lyford, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Red Bluff has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. As for Liberty, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-6.

Red Bluff didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 12-1 victory against Hanford West on the 16th. As for Liberty, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 2-1 defeat against Hoover on the 16th.
