Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Sacred Heart walked away with it. They escaped with a win on Thursday against the Assumption Rockets by the margin of a single free throw, 45-44. The win was nothing new for the Valkyries as they're now sitting on eight straight.

Sacred Heart's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Bri Wilkins, who posted nine points and seven rebounds. That's the most boards Wilkins has posted since back in January. Amirah 'Tootie' Jordan was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Despite the loss, Assumption still got an impressive performance from Bailee Duck, who earned 12 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Se'Rae Palmer, who put up six points along with five assists and three steals.

Sacred Heart's victory bumped their record up to 30-3. As for Assumption, with the defeat, they broke their seven-game winning streak and moved their record to 23-6.

Looking ahead, Sacred Heart will be taking part in a tournament against DuPont Manual at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday. Sacred Heart is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 71.7 points per game this season. Assumption does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
