Baseball Game Preview: Fillmore Flashes vs. Hueneme Vikings

For the second straight game, Fillmore will face off against Hueneme. The Flashes will head out on the road to challenge the Vikings at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.

Fillmore came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Hueneme, falling 9-1. The loss continues a trend for the Flashes in their meetings with the Vikings: they've now lost four in a row.

For Hueneme's part, Steven Hernandez tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Hernandez has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Andre Centeno was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Walter Nickerson, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Hueneme kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive matches.

Hueneme is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Fillmore, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-14.
