Volleyball Recap: Smidt Tech Falls to University Prep Value in First Game of Season

Smidt Tech unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the University Prep Value Wolves by a score of 3-2 on Wednesday. If the Grey Wolves were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Wolves when the teams met back in August of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Smidt Tech wouldn't go down easily and took University Prep Value into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking two-point loss. The final score came out to 24-26, 25-20, 25-14, 23-25, 16-14.

Janeht Castro paced Smidt Tech's offense, picking up seven kills. Castro got some help from Sabrina Quijano and her seven assists. Alejandra Sevillano controlled things from the service line, finishing with seven aces.

Smidt Tech has already played their next game, a 3-0 win against Rise Kohyang on the 21st. As for University Prep Value, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Community Charter at 4:30 p.m.
