Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Lydia Brockelbank and Natalie Lanning Lead Chancellor to Victory

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against James Monroe, Chancellor was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They walked away with a 55-42 win over the Caroline Cavaliers. The Chargers haven't had any issues with the Cavaliers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Chancellor was led to victory by Natalie Lanning and Lydia Brockelbank. Lanning went 8 for 13 on her way to 22 points along with eight boards and six assists, while Brockelbank went 7 of 13 to rack up 18 points in addition to five rebounds and four blocks. Lanning's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelsey Carter, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds.

Chancellor smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 23 consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Chancellor's win bumped their record up to 16-5. As for Caroline, their loss dropped their record down to 7-13.

Looking ahead, Chancellor will face off against King George at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Caroline, they will take on Culpeper County at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Culpeper County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 68.4 points per game this season.
