Basketball Recap: Friday's Win Is J.F. Webb's Seventh in Last Nine Outings

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Carrboro, J.F. Webb was happy to have turned things around on Friday. Everything went their way against the Granville Central Panthers as the J.F. Webb Warriors made off with a 71-49 victory. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 286th, while the Panthers are ranked 585th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead J.F. Webb to victory, but perhaps none more so than Daniel Wright, who went 7 for 14 en route to 20 points along with eight assists and eight rebounds. Wright's evening made it nine games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Joshua Barnette, who dropped a double-double with 20 points and ten boards.

J.F. Webb smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in eight consecutive matches.

J.F. Webb has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.2 points over those games. As for Granville Central, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-15.

Coming up, J.F. Webb will challenge Southern School of Energy and Sustainability at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Granville Central, they will face off against Vance County at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
