Preview: Gladewater Bears vs. New Diana Eagles
Gladewater is 7-0 against New Diana since December of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Gladewater Bears will be playing in front of their home fans against the New Diana Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Gladewater will be looking to keep their nine-game home win streak alive.
Gladewater put the finishing touches on their eighth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Hughes Springs 55-18 on the road. Given Gladewater's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 744th, while Hughes Springs is ranked 1542nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, New Diana unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They were the victim of a tough 51-26 defeat at the hands of Sabine. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat New Diana has suffered since December 5, 2023.
The losing side was boosted by Jolie Ballard, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and three steals. Bailey Tennimon was another key contributor, scoring four points along with six rebounds.
Gladewater now has a winning record of 13-12. As for New Diana, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-15.
Gladewater took their victory against New Diana when the teams last played on January 5th by a conclusive 47-23. Does Gladewater have another victory up their sleeve, or will New Diana turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
