Volleyball Recap: Somerville Comes Up Short

Somerville was the 3-0 winner over Billerica Memorial when they last played one another back in April, but their luck changed this time around. The Highlanders lost 3-0 to the Indians on Thursday. The Highlanders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Somerville's defeat dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Billerica Memorial, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-6.

Somerville and Billerica Memorial could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Massachusetts Rankings. The Highlanders will challenge Cambridge Rindge & Latin at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (32 vs. 4). Meanwhile, Billerica Memorial (ranked 85th) will meet Lowell (ranked 14th) at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The timing isn't great for the Indians: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while the Red Raiders have snatched up five consecutive wins on the road.
