Softball Recap: Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville can now relate to. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 4-2 to the Greenwich Witches, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Wolves' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Kali Hazzard was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville now has a losing record of 9-10. As for Greenwich, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season.
