Four rounds of the UIL state playoffs are complete. State semifinal games will be played this weekend to determine which teams will advance to AT&T Stadium in Arlington for state championship week Dec. 14-17.
The winners from last week's regional championship round square off with Region I vs. II and III vs. IV.
Across the UIL's 10 divisions of 11-man football remain 13 unbeaten teams. Two games this weekend will match teams with 14-0 records.
Top 10 Round 5 playoff games
1. Allen 14-0 vs. The Woodlands 14-0, 6A-DI, 1 p.m. Saturday, Austin's Royal Memorial Stadium
Allen saw a run of three straight state titles end last year, but is on track to wear the crown again. The balanced Eagles rely on the runs of
Brock Sturges (1,106 yards, 16 touchdowns) and the passing of
Mitchell Jonke (2,221 yards, 23 touchdowns). The Woodlands quarterback
Eric Schmid, a Sam Houston State pledge, ran for 107 yards and three touchdowns and passed for 247 yards and another score in last week's 41-18 fourth-round victory over Round Rock.
2. West Orange-Stark (Orange) 14-0 vs. Navarro (Geronimo) 14-0, 4A-DII, 7 p.m. Friday, Houston's NRG StadiumWest Orange-Stark, the defending state champion, has posted eight shutouts this season and in two other games did not allow a touchdown. In the playoffs, the Mustangs have outscored opponents 217-26. Navarro will try to crack that defense with two 1,000-yard rushers,
Jared Leal and
Jake Wright, mixed with the passing of junior Will Eveld.
3. DeSoto 14-0 vs. Klein Collins (Spring) 13-1, 6A-DII, 4 p.m. Saturday, Houston's NRG StadiumQuarterback
Shawn Robinson, a TCU pledge, threw for 310 yards, rushed for 110 and had a hand in six touchdowns as DeSoto defeated Cedar Hill 55-41 last week. Klein Collins edged Spring Westfield (Houston) 21-18 with
Brett Bridges' 80-yard touchdown pass to
Quinton Newton with nine minutes to play standing up as the game-winner.
4. College Station 14-0 vs. Calallen (Corpus Christi) 13-1, 5A-DII, 7:30 p.m. Friday, San Antonio's AlamodomeJunior quarterback
Marquez Perez ran for 116 and had a hand in three touchdowns to lead College Station to last week's 31-27 victory over Fort Bend Marshall (Missouri City). Calallen, led by legendary coach Phil Danaher, scored 21 points in the fourth quarter to defeat Victoria East (Victoria) 31-14. Senior quarterback
Gaige Lamb rushed for 122 yards and three scores.
5. Lake Travis (Austin) 13-1 vs. Atascocita (Humble) 12-1, 6A-DI, 2 p.m. Saturday, San Antonio's AlamodomeLake Travis, a state finalist a year ago in Division II, crushed rival Westlake (Austin) 51-3 in Round 4.
Charlie Brewer, an SMU pledge, has thrown for 3,303 yards and 45 touchdowns.
Maleek Barkley has rushed for 1,231 yards and 16 scores. Atascocita took out 2015 state champion North Shore (Houston) 33-27 in overtime. Quarterback
Daveon Boyd rushed for three touchdowns, including the game-winner, and threw for 349 yards.

6. Ryan (Denton) 14-0 vs. Highland Park (Dallas) 12-2, 5A-DI, 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Frisco's Ford CenterJunior dual-threat quarterback
Spencer Sanders has thrown for 3,262 yards, rushed for over 1,000 yards and accounted for 53 touchdowns for Ryan. Highland Park, a win away from becoming the UIL's first to reach 800 all-time victories, is led by junior quarterback
John Stephen Jones (2840 passing yards, 28 touchdowns), the grandson of Cowboys owner Jerry Jones.
7. Wellington 13-1 vs. Iraan 14-0, 2A-DII, 7 p.m. Friday, Abilene's Shotwell StadiumSenior
Jose Tellez leads Wellington rushers with 1,580 yards and 26 touchdowns. The Rockets have blanked their last two playoff opponents. Iraan will be playing with heavy hearts after a bus carrying the cheerleaders returning from last week's playoff in Colorado City was involved in a collision with a truck resulting in the death of the cheerleader sponsor.
8. Gilmer 13-1 vs. Sweetwater 13-1, 4A-DII, 7 p.m. Friday, Waco's McLane StadiumGilmer, a state champion in 2014, displayed its speed in a 43-17 win over Celina with
LaMarcus Morton, an Oklahoma State pledge, turning four catches into 173 yards and two touchdowns. The Sweetwater defense has forced 32 turnovers this season. Leading tackler
Hunter Mobley and company limited Seminole to 14 points in last week's state quarterfinal victory.
9. Canadian 12-2 vs. Gunter 14-0, 3A-DII, 7 p.m. Friday, Wichita Falls' Memorial StadiumCanadian, the Class 2A-DI state champion the last two seasons, moved up to 3A-DII this year and promptly got off to a 1-2 start. But the Wildcats are rolling now, thanks to the running of junior
Chris Jones and the passing of
Corbin Douthitt. Gunter is not only undefeated, but in its last 10 games the winning margin has been at least three touchdowns. Quarterback

Foster (Richmond) 14-0 vs. Temple 11-3, 5A-DI, 2 p.m. Saturday, San Marcos' Bobcat StadiumSenior receiver Ceedee Lamb, an Oklahoma pledge, already has 90 catches and needs only 89 yards to reach the 2,000-yard plateau for Foster. He has 32 touchdown receptions. Temple shocked previously-unbeaten Manvel 24-23 in a regional final on Reid Hesse's 16-yard touchdown pass to
