Softball Preview: Robinson Rams vs. George C. Marshall Statesmen
The Robinson Rams will face off against the George C. Marshall Statesmen at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Robinson took a seven-run defeat the last time they faced off against South Lakes, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Rams had just enough and edged out the Seahawks 6-4.
The team relied heavily on Marina Palazzo, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Giuliana Costa, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Robinson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask George C. Marshall). They were the clear victors by a 20-1 margin over Potomac Senior on Tuesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.
Rilee Davies was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Davies was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Reagan Brand was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Those RBI marked the first that she brought in this season. Lindsey Manifor was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 4-for-4.
The victory got George C. Marshall back to even at 5-5. As for Robinson, their win bumped their record up to 4-6.
