Baseball Recap: IMG Academy Silver Drops Highest Score of Season Against Deland

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask IMG Academy Silver). Their pitchers stepped up to hand the DeLand Bulldogs a 12-0 shutout on Monday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Ascenders with their most commanding win of the season.

IMG Academy Silver let JP Piles and Carter Rivera run wild. Piles went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one double, while Rivera scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave Rivera a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Matias Castillo, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.

IMG Academy Silver was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .467. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

IMG Academy Silver is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. With the defeat, DeLand broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-9.

Coincidentally, IMG Academy Silver and DeLand will both be playing Dr. Phillips the next time they take the field. DeLand will head out to face Dr. Phillips at 8:45 a.m. on Tuesday, while IMG Academy Silver will head out to face them at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
