Softball Recap: East Newton Comes Up Short

East Newton has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging three runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Tuesday. They came up short against the Mt. Vernon Mountaineers, falling 10-3. The defeat continues a trend for the Patriots in their meetings with the Mountaineers: they've now lost three in a row.

East Newton's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Mt. Vernon, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.

East Newton will head out on the road to take on Greenfield at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mt. Vernon, they will be playing at home against Fair Grove at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
