Volleyball Recap: Brownstown/St. Elmo Comes Up Short

Brownstown/St. Elmo was the 2-0 winner over Altamont when they last played one another back in October of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Eagles fell just short of the Indians by a score of 2-1 on Tuesday.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Brownstown/St. Elmo sadly wound up on the wrong side. The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 14-25, 25-18.

Their offense was headlined by Peyton Barker and Presley Williams, who picked up six kills apiece. They got some help from Addie Sasse and her ten assists. She also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Macey Sapp, each putting up two.

Brownstown/St. Elmo's loss dropped their record down to 13-9. As for Altamont, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-8-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matches. Brownstown/St. Elmo will square off against Mulberry Grove at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles are facing the Aces at the right time seeing as the Aces are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Altamont, they will take on Effingham at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
