Recap: Dumas Demons vs. Canyon Eagles
Even though The Canyon Eagles scored an imposing 42 points on Friday, the Dumas Demons still came out on top. Dumas came out on top in a nail-biter against Canyon and snuck past 45-42. The victory was all the more spectacular given Dumas' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 511th, while Canyon is ranked 241st).
When it comes to explaining why Canyon lost, one person who can't be blamed is Christian Mcguire. Despite the final result, he rushed for 243 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.6 yards per carry. The team also got some help courtesy of Samuel Johnson, who rushed for 79 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries.
Dumas has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 4-5 record this season. As for Canyon, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dumas will square off against Hereford at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Canyon, they will head out on the road to face off against Pampa at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Pampa is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home.
