Basketball Game Preview: Texas Tigers vs. Mt. Pleasant Tigers

Texas is 1-9 against Mt. Pleasant since February of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Texas Tigers are taking a road trip to challenge the Mt. Pleasant Tigers at 7:30 p.m.

It was a proper cat-fight when Texas challenged Hallsville on Monday. Texas fell 61-53 to Hallsville. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 269th, while the Bobcats are ranked 121st).

Meanwhile, Mt. Pleasant entered their tilt with Hallsville on Tuesday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 41-38 win over the Bobcats. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Tigers have posted since December 6, 2024.

Texas' loss dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Mt. Pleasant, they pushed their record up to 19-4 with the win, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Texas came up short against Mt. Pleasant in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, falling 40-30. Can Texas avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
