Softball Recap: Pinecrest Has No Trouble Against Northwood

Pinecrest had lost three games straight , but after bumping their record up to 5-15 on Monday that streak is in the rearview. They were the clear victors by a 19-4 margin over the Northwood Chargers. The Patriots' offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last three games.

Emily Hatcher was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Kaiya Todd was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

As for Northwood, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season. Their loss continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

On Northwood's side, Makenna Lux made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Pinecrest is taking a road trip to square off against Cary at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Northwood, they will welcome Chatham Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bears will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Chargers surely won't give up without a fight.
