Baseball Game Preview: Junipero Serra Padres vs. Valley Christian Warriors

For the second straight game, Junipero Serra will face off against Valley Christian. The Padres will be playing at home against the Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Junipero Serra 2, Valley Christian 1.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.

If Junipero Serra beats Valley Christian with five runs on Friday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Padres had just enough and edged out the Warriors 5-4. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 9, 2024, but that streak is no more.

Evan Bradshaw was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Chris Ganim also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Junipero Serra pushed their record up to 12-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Valley Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 8-4.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Junipero Serra has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Valley Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.8 strikeouts.
