Preview: Minneapolis Lions vs. Republic County Buffaloes
Minneapolis is on a 16-game streak of home losses (dating back to last season), Republic County an eight-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. The Minneapolis Lions will take on the Republic County Buffaloes at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 63-25, which was the final score in Minneapolis' tilt against Southeast of Saline on Friday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Minneapolis in their matchups with Southeast of Saline: they've now lost nine in a row.
Meanwhile, Republic County was beaten by Ellsworth 65-25 on Friday. While losing is never fun, Republic County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 303rd, while Ellsworth is ranked 33rd).
Minneapolis has not been sharp recently as the team has lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-14 record this season. As for Republic County, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-16.
Minneapolis took their win against Republic County in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 by a conclusive 67-45. Will Minneapolis repeat their success, or does Republic County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
