Basketball Game Preview: Calhoun Yellow Jackets vs. LaFayette Ramblers

The Calhoun Yellow Jackets and the LaFayette Ramblers will face off at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Calhoun will be strutting in after a win while LaFayette will be coming in after a defeat.

On Friday, everything came up roses for Calhoun against Ridgeland as the team secured a 68-27 victory. Given the Yellow Jackets' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 81st, while the Panthers are ranked 379th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, LaFayette was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 44-39 heartbreaker at the hands of Adairsville.

Calhoun has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.2 points over those games. As for LaFayette, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-10.

Calhoun didn't have too much breathing room in their game against LaFayette in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 55-49 win.
