Baseball Recap: Port Clinton Snaps 11-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Port Clinton took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against Monroeville, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Redskins sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 victory over the Eagles on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Redskins have posted since April 4th.

Lucas Bodie spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on five hits.

At the plate, Port Clinton saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Danny Baker, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI Baker has posted since back in April of 2024.

Port Clinton's victory ended an 11-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-15. As for Monroeville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Port Clinton will head out to challenge Rossford at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Redskins are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Monroeville, they will venture away from home to square off against New London at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of.
