Basketball Recap: Plant City Comes Up Short

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Plant City couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They took a 57-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Newsome Wolves on Friday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Raiders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 72-71 back in December of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Plant City saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Vare Miller went 5 of 10 on his way to 19 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. Miller is also crushing it when it comes to shooting accuracy: he's posted at least zero every time he's taken the court this season. Gavin Tinsley was another key player, going 6 for 11 en route to 14 points.

Plant City's loss dropped their record down to 18-8. As for Newsome, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 24-3.

As of now, neither Plant City nor Newsome have any future games scheduled.
