Baseball Recap: Dr. Phillips Comes Up Short

Dr. Phillips was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Orangewood Christian Rams. If the Panthers were looking for revenge after losing 8-3 to the Rams when the teams met back in March of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Charles Estrella-Roa was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ryan Pyka was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since March 4th. Another player making a difference was Edwin Jaimes, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Dr. Phillips' loss dropped their record down to 9-12. As for Orangewood Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season.

Dr. Phillips will head out on the road to challenge Windermere at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Windermere's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Dr. Phillips' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Orangewood Christian, they will welcome Trinity Prep at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
