Softball Recap: Organ Mountain Snaps Seven-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Organ Mountain dropped their record down to 12-5-1 on Thursday, which also ended the team's seven-game streak of wins at home. They lost 15-4 to the Las Cruces Bulldawgs. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Knights have suffered since March 15th.

Caillin Reyes was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one double. Another player making a difference was Leah Melero, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one RBI.

As for Las Cruces, they pushed their record up to 14-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Considering they have won ten matches by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

On Las Cruces' side, Amaya Pinedo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on seven hits. Pinedo also put up a home run, which was her first of the season.

At the plate, Erica Silva and Zaysha Hawkins did most of the damage at the plate: Silva got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run and five runs, while Hawkins went 3-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs Silva has posted since back in March of 2024. Denae DiMatteo was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one home run.

While Organ Mountain had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
