Recap: Murray Spartans vs. Park City Miners

The Murray Spartans had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They walked away with a 73-63 victory over Park City. Given Murray's advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 34th, while Park City is ranked 105th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Murray's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Quinton Christman, who scored 21 points along with five assists and three steals. Christman has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Treyce Wilson, who scored 14 points along with five assists and five rebounds.

When it comes to explaining why Park City lost, one person who can't be blamed is Duke Gordon. Despite the final result, he scored 20 points along with five rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Wilson, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds.

Murray's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-5. As for Park City, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Murray will square off against Hillcrest at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Park City, they will head out on the road to challenge Jordan at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Jordan focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Tuesday.
