Volleyball Recap: Taran Kollu Key Part of Team Effort in Golden Eagles Win

University Prep Academy's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They blew past the Yerba Buena Aztec Warriors 3-0.

University Prep Academy never let Yerba Buena on the board, but things got pretty close in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-12, 25-12, 26-24.

University Prep Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Taran Kollu led the charge by getting six digs, four aces, and one block. That's the most aces Kollu has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Nguyen, who had 23 digs and one assist.

University Prep Academy's victory was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-2. As for Yerba Buena, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.

Coming up, University Prep Academy will challenge Milpitas at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. As for Yerba Buena, they will head out to square off against Lincoln at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Yerba Buena is facing Lincoln at the right time seeing as Lincoln is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
